
Planning officers have recommended refusal to the scheme to demolish the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital and replace it with a modern block of 150 flats, forty per cent of which would have been 'affordable'. Some of the flats only had a north facing aspect, internal bathrooms reliant on mechanical ventilation and artificial lighting.
The plan also includes a GP surgery, a pharmacy and a public open green space.
English Heritage and the Victorian Society have both strongly objected to the plans.
