The Birdcage bandstand, built in 1884, is the jewel on Brighton's seafront. After many years of neglect plans for its restoration are at last being prepared.
A Brighton firm of architects, DRP, have been appointed to oversee the £850,000 restoration project, which will restore this landmark to its former glory.
Temporary repairs have been carried out so that the structure can withstand the winter weather. Temporary guttering and pipes have been fitted to remove rain water from the bandstand, and a felt covering has been replaced so that the structure is watertight.
