GRADE II LISTED BUILDING MAY BE REPLACED WITH A SIX STOREY OFFICE BLOCK
The Astoria, opened as a 1,800 seat cinema in 1933, was converted to a bingo hall in the 1970s, but closed in 1997.
It was acquired by Yes/No Productions, the company that created the Stomp, who sold it in 1997, and recently bought the Old Market in Hove.
Plans to replace he Astoria with a 6 storey block of offices with a café on the ground floor, and a two storey annex for smaller ’starter’ offices, will be submitted in October 2010.
